Match Report : F&F Made To Rue Chances

F&F crashed out of the MMU FA Cup on penalties yesterday at the MMU Stadium. The scores were tied at 1-1 after full time and the match had to be determined by penalty kicks.

F&F started the game slowly in the first half with the players still finding their rhythm. A scrappy play from Charles "Essien" nearly gave a heart attack to the F&F players as he dwelled on the ball only for it to be plucked out of his feet by a marauding Phlamze player but F&F defence led by veteran NadeemStone are able to ease the danger. Manager, Bob The Builder saw the need for an early change with an ineffective Affan "Pedro" still trying to blend in with the team substituted with Sohaib "Karembeu". Sohaib's introduction really made a difference as F&F started to play their normal passing style with everyone on their feet. But lady luck was not on F&F side as Syah "Boboy" made a foul that leads to a freekick at the edge of F&F penalty area.A Phlamze player struck a harmless freekick towards goal but a miscommunication between NadeemStone and debutant goalkeeper "Carlos Vicky Kameni" led to a freak own goal by the big haired NadeemStone. F&F were waken up from their slumber after the goal, conjuring attack after attack with the highlight being a swift and silky move by Hairi "Krikc" only to have his shot hit the post.

After a spirited team talk during half time, the F&F side walked back into the pitch with much to prove. Waves of attacks were thrown at the Phlamze backline but F&F squander chances after chances. Phlamze were finally unlocked when "Atoy Pinky" managed to get pass a few of Phlamze defender and distributed the ball to Eskandar "Macheda". The on-form striker made no mistake after taking one touch to turn it away from a defender and fired the ball home to tie the score. F&F controlled much of the possesion thereafter with the defense doing a fantastic job of quieting the opponents midfield and attack. Phlamze were resorted to playing English style football of pumping the ball to the final quater of the field. Skipper, Zul Rossi then was drafted to the middle of the park when Azim "Pelekat" was introduced. The frontline inclusive of Eskandar "Macheda", Hairi "Krikc", Sohaib "Karembeu" and Zul Rossi led by Mid "Totti" launched waves of mini-tsunamis towards Phlamze but F&F were made to rue the chances they created. Eskandar had an excellent chance of winning the game after the Phlamze defense misjudged a flighting ball from Azim "Pelekat" but he failed to make the chance count as he was sandwiched between the goalkeeper and the defender.

The game went into penalty kicks with Phlamze converting all their penalties but F&F's Azim "Pelekat" hit a thunderous shot to the bar which made the final penalty score 5-4 in favour of Phlamze.

It was a great game to watch with plenty of passion showed in playing the beautiful game. Congratulations to Phlamze as they progressed to the semi-final of the tournament and we wish them the best of luck.

Match Preview: F&F Looking to March On

Fire&Flames VS Phlamze
MMU Stadium
KickOff 1730

After scraping through their round of 16 match against Spirulina a fortnight weeks ago, F&F are looking to improve in todays' match against Phlamze.

MMU Champions League (Semester 3 2008/2009)
F&F (0) vs (0) Phlamze

Division 1 League Match (Semester 1 2009/2010)
F&F (3) vs (3) Phlamze

A messy display against Phlamze today will not be tolerated as F&F aims to continue their march towards defending the title. "Carlos Vicky Kameni", a deadline day deal for F&F is set to make his debut after missing out on the first game due to a family commitment. The brave Cameroonian goalkeeper was flown back from his home country almost immediately and has been training all week.

Team manager, Bob The Builder and skipper, Zul Rossi are set to tinker again with the lineup as they bid to unsettle Phlamze. The midfield triumvirate will be tuned to accommodate and control the middle of the park. Charles "Essien" will be aiming to keep his place at his favorite position after a solid display in his debut match.

Skipper, Zul Rossi who is less than impressed with his defense in the match against Spirulina said on Monday that there will be changes to the defensive line. Syah "Boboy" who made a superb case for his starting berth last semester in the MMU Division 1 League is sweating over his starting position after a dismal first half cameo in the last game. Meanwhile, Zul "Takot Lipas" appeal over his red card will be announced today after a quick hearing. Club lawyers are adamant that the red card verdict will be retracted but it will only be known after the formal proceedings are done.

Eskandar "Macheda" 2 goals against Spirulina will make his case for the starting lineup. The on-form striker is eager to drive the team forward after missing out the gold medal in several occasions. Boynaldo is still sidelined over his knee injury and is rated 50-50 for today's game. Also, F&F new signing, promising youngsters Hairi "Krikc" and Affan "Pedro" is expected to make some contribution over the period of the game. Mohamnad "Mido" could also be in line for F&F if everything goes well with his work permit application.

Match Report : Struggling Flames Scrape Through

It was F&F's first competitive match after 3 months since their last match against Phlamze in the Division 1. There were 3 debutants for F&F but only Charles Essien being given the nod to start alongside NadeemStone and Mid Totti.

F&F started the match brightly when Eskandar Macheda scored an early goal to pressure Spirulina's players. NadeemStone did not play well at his new position but managed to released a killer pass for Boynaldo whose shot was blocked by a defender. Spirulina held their heads up by playing an attacking football. Their attacking play was rewarded when Boynaldo fouled their player. F&F players were stunned after seeing the free kick from long distance ended up in the goal.

In the second half, Zul "TakotLipas" played at left back with Faruk "AutoPilot" came on for Shah "Boboy" to partner with Acap Brown at the heart of the defend. F&F continue to find the second goal but everything had to change because Zul "TakotLipas" was given his marching order after ref judged him for kicking an opponent during a corner kick for F&F. He was furious with that decision because he did not touch anyone at all. Spirulina players were not complaining anything about Zul "TakotLipas" kicking any of their players.

With that decision, Zul Rossi had to play on the left back, disappointing display by NadeemStone and Boynaldo were substituted by Sohaib Karembeu and Atoy "Pinky". A free kick from Mid Totti found Eskandar Macheda's head to score his second goal of the match. Spirulina pegged F&F immediately from a free kick which left F&F's back four sleeping and one of Spirulina's player managed to beat the offside trap to score the equaliser. 2 new signings , Affan and Hairi were given their debut and Affan playing up front with Eskandar Macheda nearly scored the winner when he was one on one with the goalie but the goalie managed to parry his shot out for a corner kick.

The full time ended with a stalemate and penalty shoot out was needed to decide the winner. Zul Rossi for the first time in a competitive match play in goal. Although Mid Totti missed the penalty, F&F's players was happy to see one of Spirulina penalty taker missed the kick. In the end it was sudden death penalty taken by Sohaib Karembeu and proved vital for F&F as he scored from the spot. F&F will face rival, Phlamze in the second round after they won 3-1 against Bakala.

Match Preview: Re-vamped Flames Looking for First Win

Fire&Flames VS Spirulina
MMU Field
KickOff 1730

F&F is set to play against Spirulina in a bid to defend their title. Spirulina is not an unfamiliar side for F&F to face having played against them in past 2 seasons.

MMU Champions League (Qtr Final)
F&F (2) vs (0) Spirulina

Division 1 League Match
F&F (2) vs (0) Spirulina

Even with the scoreline above is on F&F's side, it did not do justice for Spirulina. Spirulina is a side which has improved a lot for the past few years since their involvement in MMU football scenario. It seems luck was never on their side.

F&F is now looking end their run without any title since becoming MMU Cup Champion. Since then, F&F only managed to get 4th place in the MMU Champions League and was the runners up in the Division 1 and gained promotion to the Premier League last season.

This season F&F will be without their defensive midfielder, Nadom Onuoha and skipper Zul Rossi tend to tinker with FerdiNadeem playing in that position. FerdiNadeem therefore will change his nick name to NadeemStone(HUDDLESTONE). Faruk "AutoPilot" is set to control the defends with his auto piloting technique alongside Acap Brown.
Shah "Boboy" is set to retain the left back berth after performed well last season.

Zul Rossi has yet to decide who to play on right back and right wing. Azim "Pelekat" has demanded to play as an outfield position mainly as the right back after scoring the equaliser against FOE in the Interfaculty Final. Alip Possebon will be looking to fight for the right back position with Azim whereas the right wing berth has 3 candidates, veteran Boynaldo, Charles Essien and new signing Hairi. Vicky from Salsa has signed for F&F as a goalkeeper as a last minute replacement for Azim.

F&F to Defend MMU Cup with New Signings

It has been a year since F&F won the MMU Cup in their debut season led by former skipper Samir Aie. Since then, F&F has never won any major honors but came close last season to winning the Division 1 title. F&F is on unbeaten streak since last season for 5 matches.

Manager, Bob "The Builder" has made some changes to the squad after Nadom Onuoha, Acoy "Altec",Det-Co and Ibrahim "November" quit the team. Nadom Onuoha has been released by the gaffer because of psychiatric reasons which occurred since the last match against Phlamze. There was a rumour saying that he can't accept losing the title race by a point to rival, CyberHeat. He is now having treatment with the famous psychiatrist, Alfred Adler specialist in individual psychology. Acoy "Altec" meanwhile had to retire because of health issues whereas Det-Co retired because suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Overeating [OCO] (Also known as binge eating). Ibrahim quit to make a new team called Mixed Team to seek more playing time on the field after starting most matches from the bench last season.

Charles Essien has rejoined the team after plying his trade with Salsa FC for the last 2 seasons. He was part of F&F team that won the MMU Cup last year. Whereas, the gaffer had captured 2 new faces for the team, Hairi and Affan. Hairi can play as winger, midfield and striker and Affan can play as a striker.

F&F's Players Starred in Interfaculty Tournament

After a long festive season break, the Interfaculty Tournament was the curtain raiser for the new season. Most of the F&F's players such as most capped FIT's skipper, Boynaldo, FOM's skipper Acap Brown, Azim "Pelekat", Atoy "Pinky", Shah "Boboy, and Eskandar Macheda performed throughout the tournament.

Boynaldo scored once from the spot during the group stage match against eventual champion, FOE and finished at 3rd place. Meanwhile newly appointed FOM's skipper, Acap Brown lifted the team's spirit by scoring the winner in the final minutes during their first match against FIT.

Eskandar Macheda scored a brace in the their second match against FCM, which Atoy "Pinky" was the playmaker and F&F's new signing Affan scored the 4th goal. Charles Essien re-signed for F&F this season played in all the matches for FOM but missed the penalty shoot-out against FOE.

Azim "Pelekat" showed his versatility throughout the tournament by playing in goal, centre back and right back and scored a thunderous long shot in the final match. Syah "Boboy" who seems lack of match fitness in the tournament played in unfamiliar position along side Acap Brown at centre back for 2 matches.

F&F's Season Review

It was indeed an exciting season for F&F as the league was colored with fantastic game play, blunders, dramas and inconsistency in performance through out the season. F&F new signings, Mid Totti, Iskandar Macheda, Atoy "Pinky", Ibrahim "November", Farouk "AutoPilot", Syah "Boboy" and Acap Brown have live up to their billings this season.

At the start of the campaign, F&F identified CyberHeat and Phlamze as main rivals for the championship and it was indeed true. F&F started the season brightly by winning the opening match 2-1(Spirulina) and defeating arch-rivals CyberHeat(1-0). Relegation struggler, CF Mantizs halted F&F's winning streak by holding them to 1-1 draw.

F&F announced their new kit deal with an Argentine electronic giant, Megatone at mid season. Club ambassador, Fatah, lead the unveiling of F&F's new kit during the match against Salsa FC(5-1) which they won in a perfect combination of pass and run football. After four matches played, F&F was at second spot, 2 points behind leaders CyberHeat which had played all five matches. In the last match of the season against Phlamze(3-3), F&F needed 3 points to lift the trophy to but they only managed to get a point.

CyberHeat and F&F will be playing in the Super League come next year against the likes of reigning champion ,Victory and arguably some of the best teams in MMU namely Dettol FC, Black Emperor and Staff FC.

This season F&F has improved their goal tally by scoring 15 goals but defensively they have been poor by letting in 5 goals. Azim "Pelikat" had inconsistent form throughout the season especially in the matches against relegated CF Mantizs and rival, Phlamze. Farouk "AutoPilot" has improved on his balance to his running after he succeeded former F&F legend, Fauzan "Makan Tanah" nickname in the opening match. He will also need gym training for the coming season for his legs' muscles so that it can fit into his shin pad. Rookie defenders Acap "Brown" and Syah "Boboy" have impressed everyone and grown with their eye catching performance in the league with Syah "Boboy" bagging two goals against Phlamze. Veteran FerdiNadeem, badly needs to lose weight and regain match fitness for next season. Zul "Takot Lipas" and Nadom Onouha will be given anger management classes to try and curb their temperament as they are experienced and senior players. Skipper Zul Rossi will know what to improve next season as his finishing against CF Mantisz and Salsa FC was poor. The trio partnership of Mid Totti, Sohaib Karembeu and Nadom Onuoha have been marvelous not forgetting the strike force of Iskandar Macheda and Atoi "Pinky". Ibrahim "November", the F&F's supersub had scored 2 goals after coming off from the bench will surely stake a claim in the starting XI next season. Det-co, Boynaldo, Achoy "Altec" and Alip Possebon also made significant contribution to the team by being there when the team needs their unrelenting service.

Match Report : F&F Crumble at the Last Hurdle

It was the most anticipated match of the season as F&F and Phlamze are thrown into a title decider match. F&F needed to win the match in order to be crowned champions' whilst Phlamze needed a point to gain third spot.

Achai "Salah Key" started the match after being given the green light from the MMUFA to play his debut match. F&F started well by getting a goal in the early minutes through Sohaib Karembeu. As Phlamze's goalie tried to clear the ball inside his penalty area, the ball hit Sohaib Karembeu and F&F got their first goal. Lady luck seems to be on F&F's side as the goal went in but Phlamze had other plans in mind. The F&F's engine room seems stuttered with Phlamze's anchor man, John Sissoko doing his job well by breaking most of Flame's attacking play at the middle of the park. Phlamze's manager has surely done his homework by watching F&F's previous match against Salsa FC. Phlamze managed to deal with F&F's offside trap by launching long balls for their star player, Dinho to chase using his speed against rookie and aging defenders, Acap Brown and FerdiNadeem.

FerdiNadeem was lucky not to be given the marching order as his shirt pulling on Dinho running towards the goal was ony deemed punishable with a yellow card by the referee. Phlamze got their equaliser when Azim "Pelikat" poor goal kick went to straight to Phlamze's right winger and scored what could been the goal of the season. His wonderful volley went over Azim's head as he was rushing back to his 6 yard box.

The game was also smeared by an incident which was not spotted by the referee as Nadom Onuoha kicked the opponent from the back.

Phlamze's tactic on beating F&F's offside trap did bear fruit when Dinho sped off from his marker and caught Azim "Pelikat" not covering his post well. That allowed Dinho to pick his spot and gave Phlamze the lead. Manager Bob "The Builder" responded by substituting lack of match fitness, Achai "Salah Key" with Syah "Boboy". With Nadom Onuoha back to his favored position, F&F's midfield were expected to retain possession and control the match.

Just before the half time whistle are blown, F&F players cannot believe their luck again as Syah "Boboy"'s long ball directed to the Phlamze's goalie was fumbled and gifted the equaliser. The first half finished with 2-2 and pressure mounting on F&F as they need to win. Manager Bob "The Builder" made few changes by substituting Farouk "AutoPilot" with Zul "Takot Lipas" to the unfamiliar right back position for him. Azim "Pelikat" was due to appear in court over a bar brawl charge and was substituted with youth team goalie, Acap "Gigi".

Phlamze lead for the second time in the match as they scored when FerdiNadeem's clearance was intercepted by Phlamze's midfield and left 3 players against FerdiNadeem and Acap Brown. Zul K "Takot Lipas" contribution on the field did not last long as he and a Phlamzes' player were caught shoving each other and referee gave the marching order to both players.

Skipper Zul Rossi had to partner FerdiNadeem as Acap Brown already been substituted with Boynaldo just before Zul "Takot Lipas"'s red card. Phlamze were reduced to 9 men when Zul Rossi was hacked down by a Phlamze's defender and were given his second booking. F&F took advantage on Phlamze's 9 men by scoring the equaliser when Ibrahim "November"'s cross found Syah "Boboy" unmarked to tap in the ball.

F&F failure to find the winning goal has made CyberHeat the champion of Division 1 and F&F had to settled for the second spot. With score 3-3, it shows that even being unbeaten for the season does not guarantee the championship. Congratulation to newly crowned champion of Division 1,CyberHeat!

Zul K - "I vow not to do it again"

Hard tackling F&F left footed player, Zul K, has issued an apology to his teammates and fans here today.

Talking to a number of journalist lined-up outside the MMU Football Association building, Zul K was in an apologetic mood after his hearing in front of the MMU Disciplinary Committee and a press conference after that.

Zul K was quoted saying "I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to my teammates, fans, captain and manager for my indecent behaviour on the field the other day. I understand the severity of my doings and I accept whatever punishment there is both from the MMUFA and F&F management."

(pic: Zul K's punishment by F&F teammates; 1 day inside a bubble.)

He continues by saying "I truthfully regret my actions the other day and I vow not to cause anymore hassle within the team."

Zul K has been out of form of late and his on-field antics has not done him any favor either. He has been fined and also banned for 3 games by the MMUFA, subject to appeal from the F&F management quarters.

F&F's politically-correct manager, Bob "The Builder" who was also present during Zul K's hearing, was adamant that Zul K will get his acts together and perform for the team next season.

(pic: Bob seen here on vacation at Zoo Negara wondering about 1 of the hardest questions in life.)

"Everyone in the team knows how Zul K is and I think that's all that matters. I am very happy that he recognize his mistakes and is ready to apologize for it. This will not only do him good by bringing his confidence back but his teammates also can be rest assured now after his apology. As for the rest, he will need to show it on the field."

Match Preview: Crunch Time

Fire&Flames VS Phlamze
MMU Field
KickOff 1730

The Division 1's No. 1 spot will be decided today with F&F's highly anticipated matchup with Phlamze scheduled to kickoff at 0530pm.

Its crunch time for F&F as they are under pressure from CyberHeat, who comfortably shone their heat on Spirulina 3-0 yesterday. F&F will certainly be without their goalkeeper, Azim "Pelikat" after Azim is due to appear in court over a bar brawl charge. Azim's absence means Bob "The Builder" and skipper, Zul Rossi will have an enormous task of shuffling the line-up. Acap "Gigi" has been called upon by manager, Bob as stand-in for Azim. Nadum "Onuoha" who has some experience at top level playing as the man between the sticks might also fill up that position. As precautionary and back-up to defensive midfileder position, Achai "Salah Key" has been drafted in and might feature in the teams' plan today.

Rossi Delivers Complacency Warning

In a post-match press conference today, skipper Zul Rossi has issued a complacency message to his teammates.

Talking to reporters at the F&F's Cyberia training complex, Zul Rossi is happy with the level of efficiency the team has showed during last Monday's match against Salsa FC.

"To win by a margin like that was amazing. All the players did their job and sticked to the gameplan that was mentioned just before the game. I am quite sure the morale within the team is superb right now and all of them are ready for the final league game against Phlamze."

He further added, " But we also have to guard against complacency in the next match. As far as I am concerned, we are still fighting for the number 1 spot in the Super League. If we can play our normal game against Phlamze, I am quite sure everything will be alright."

F&F made a winning start in the first two games of the league, defeating Spirulina 2-0 and CyberHeat 1-0 along the way. But a slip-up to relegation threatened CF Mantisz two weeks ago made things a little bit difficult for them.

"It was uncharacteristic of the team in the draw against Mantisz. But all that is in the past now. I prefer for this team to look forward. We did that and responded well in the next game against Salsa FC and we look forward to the crunch game against Phlamze this Friday."

The exciting match between the two rivals will be played this Friday at the MMU Main Field with a scheduled 5.45pm kickoff.

Match Report: Flames Burns Five Past Salsa

F&F crowned the unveiling of their new kit in style yesterday after a 5-1 drubbing of Salsa FC. It's been nearly two weeks since F&F last match against relegated Mantizs FC as there were concerns about the squads match practice. But all that was put through the flames once the players walked on the pitch.

Manager Bob "The Builder" made a few changes to the line up by slotting Syah "Boboy" at the left back position and Det-co were given a new role as the holding midfielder. Skipper Zul Rossi made some tactical changes by playing two strikers upfront and putting himself as a free rolling attacker.

Salsa FC, who came with full squad of 25 players for the match, got the opening goal through their left winger after Iskandar Macheda's and Atoi "Pinky"'s shots were blocked by the goalie and defender. Salsa's defender cleared the ball long on the left side which was intercepted by Farouk "AutoPilot" but he failed to control the ball well with his gigantic size shin pad in the way. Salsa's left winger who obviously meant to cross the ball was more than happy to see his effort going goalwards as Azim "Pelikat" was caught at no man's land. The goal left experienced defender, FerdiNadeem fuming at Farouk's mistake but he only managed to show his shining teeth!.

Immediately after the kick off, F&F controlled the match with Mid Totti and Sohaib Karembeu combining beautifully throughout the match and F&F nearly scored the equaliser when Sohaib's shot were saved by the goalie. The non-stop attacking football from F&F was rewarded with a penalty when Mid Totti's killer ball caught the defender's hand inside the box. FerdiNadeem were given the chance to score from the spot when Iskandar Macheda and Mid Totti chose not to take it.

With the score now level, Salsa keep pushing on by playing long balls but their efforts was spoiled by F&F's offside traps. A few minutes after the penalty, FerdiNadeem's clearance found Iskandar Macheda channelling through the offside trap and were left one on one with the goalie. The promising striker rounded the keeper and slots in F&F's second with ease. Skipper, Zul Rossi squandered two chances to score late in the first half with both efforts going off target but the second one was a cheeky lob but it went over the bar.

F&F played with more killer balls in the second half as the Salsa's defend line were played too high up the pitch. Mid Totti's killer ball found Iskandar Macheda bursting past the helpless defenders but the goalie caught the ball outside the box. Mid Totti stepped up to take the free kick and did not disappoint the fans by scoring his third goal of the season. F&F fourth goal were scored by Atoi "Pinky" when he dribbled past the defenders and the goalie to tap in his first ever goal for F&F. Zul Rossi wasted two chances this half, trying to lob the keeper again. This is probably an influence from the Winning Eleven game where Zul Rossi is famous for trying to lob the keeper.

Zul "Takot Lipas", Nadom Onuoha, Ibrahim "November",Boynaldo and Alip Possebon were introduced in the second half with Det-co, Syah "Boboy", Farouk "AutoPilot", Iskandar Macheda and Atoi "Pinky" substituted. Nadom Onuoha watched his first timer volley saved by the goalie. Late in the second half, Mid Totti's vision found Ibrahim "November" bursting on the right wing straight into the penalty box to tap in his second goal of the season. FerdiNadeem were spotted by Boynaldo overlapping into the attacking position unmarked but his first touch did not help him as the goalie managed to clear the ball.

The champion of Division 1 will be decided when F&F play their last match of the season against Phlamze this Friday at MMU Field.

Kit Deal Announced

F&F club ambassador, Fatahuddin has today announced that a deal has been reached with a South American electronics giant for the sponsor of the clubs' new jersey.

The deal was made public in a press conference today by Fatahuddin who was relieved over the long standing negotiations.

Fatah said " I am glad to annouce that we have concluded a deal with our sponsors and the workings towards the new kit is underway. I know our fans has been waiting for this since the start of the season, but due to a number of reasons, the deal was delayed."

(pic: Fatah and Atoy Pinky)

He added, " If everything goes well within the next couple of days, we might be seeing a promotional teaser soon."

The kit and sponsors has been a major controversy in the F&F camp this season as negotiations stalled over at least one month. Skipper, Zul Rossi said " I think the fans will love the new jersey. Its not what we originally intended to have but I think its gonna go well with the team."

Match Report: Prey-ers Answered for Mantisz

It was Monday blues especially for the F&F's players who mostly came late and unprepared for the match. By the time the referee blew the whistle signaling for both teams to walk into the field, F&F luckily had 11 players including the goalie. Skipper Zul Rossi had to play with fever and swollen knee to make up the numbers.

Iskandar Macheda and Syah "Boboy" were not in the squad where as Sohaib Karembeu and Nadom Onouha were not in the first eleven because they were late. Alip Possebon started at defensive midfield, Atoi "Pinky" attacking midfield, Zul "Takot Lipas" on the left wing, Boynaldo on the right wing, Zul Rossi as the lone striker, Det-co on the right back and Farouk "AutoPilot" on the left back.

The match was a balance between both teams as they had their chances. Alip Possebon were substituted with Nadom Onouha 10 minutes before the interval to streghten the midfield. Temperament was shown by Mantizs when Ferdinadeem made a 50-50 tackle at their goalie and was booked because Ferdinadeem's stud was facing the goalie. Mantizs players started to lose their head after the tackle and since then every single challenge made by F&F players are considered foul to them.

Mantizs nearly opened their account when a long ball inside the penalty box was fumbled by Azim "Pelikat" and Mantizs's left winger managed to head to ball towards the goal but unfortunately the ball bounced twice on the bar and behind the goal. F&F immediately responded with a counter attack when Atoy "Pinky" squared the ball to skipper Zul Rossi was left one on one with the goalie. He had all the time in the world to choose his target in the goal but shot wide of the goal with his weaker left foot. Acap Brown nearly registered his name in the score sheet but his header was saved by the goalie.

Mantiszs' midfielder nearly got a marching order for kicking a ball at Nadom Onuoha during an off the ball incident but the ref decided to only warn the player and Nadom Onuoha were booked for his reaction against the challenge. The goal F&F waited for finally came when Zul "Takot Lipas"'s lob into the penalty box found Ibrahim "November" and he scored his first goal for the team after coming in for skipper Zul Rossi. Acap Brown again got a free header from Mid Totti's corner but his header this time was off target.

Mantizs, however did not give up, and started to make some changes. They even won a few free kicks but mostly did not bear any fruit. 5 minutes before the final whistle was blown, Mantizs had free kick that was boomed towards Azim "Pelikat" but he did not manage to catch the ball as he jumped towards a Mantizs player and the ball was loose. One of the three Mantizs players headed the free ball into the net as Ferdinadeem can only watch because he slipped inside the goal post with his foot tangled around the net.

As Mantizs's players celebrated the goal as if it was a winning goal and there was nothing much F&F can do with the introduction of former skipper, Samir Aie. As Nadom Onuoha's left footer shot went wide, it was the last action for the game as the final whistle was blown. F&F lead has now been cut to 1 point with a total 7 points from 3 matches.

The tale of Mat Khayals :-

1. Zul Rossi: Miss of the year!
2. Azim "Pelikat": Butter Finger and Khayal-ness of the day.
3. Alip Possebon: Stay at center circle = Run away from center circle.
4. Ferdinadeem : One-legged dance move while watching the ball goes into the goal.
5. Det-co: Cross from deep = Toe poke from long distance
6. Zul "Takot Lipas": Was told to stay at left back = Thought the whole left side is his for the taking.

Match Preview: Mantisz Prey-ing for Flames Slip Up

Fire&Flames VS Mantizs
MMU Field
KickOff 1730

1-0 was the scoreline when the two teams played each other as F&F won their first silverware for the MMU Cup Final. Boy P was the scorer with a typical thunderous shot with the match dominated by F&F. But this time around Boy P is not in the squad to score, can F&F produce the same performance against Mantizs?

F&F is currently the leader of Division 1 with 6 points from 2 games and has to be wary as CyberHeat is catching up after winning their last game against Salsa. Mantizs is hanging with just 1 point after playing only 1 match with their match against Spirulina postponed. They have had a long rest which could benefit them but the downside from that is, most of their players might be lacking on match fitness.

Skipper Zul Rossi is set to miss the match with swollen knee and fever whereas Acoy "Altec" is back after been hospitalised 2 weeks ago after complaining of a chest pain. Manager Bob "The Builder" will play Zul "Takot Lipas" on the left wing and Syah "Boboy" on the left back. Former skipper, Samir Aie could feature for the team.

Atoy "Pinky" and Azim "Pelikat" on Man-sion Hunt

Atoy "Pinky" and Azim "Pelikat" has been reported hunting for a place to lay their grounds after they are rumored to have sold their 6 million townhouse near Cyberjaya last fall.

Both Atoy and his counterpart were given improved contract by manager, Bob "The Builder" this season with Azim "Pelikat" having a huge pay-raise as part of a performance based deal. Azim has rarely let anything slip his hands last term as F&F boast about their goals conceded record.

(pic: The Azim's way of wearing a "Kain Pelikat" shown here on a male model.)

Where else, Atoy Pinky who was just signed to the club is also finding it fun to spend all the money that he has now. Atoy was earlier involved in a tapping up controversy with the club skipper, Zul Rossi after the two reportedly met up in a posh Cyberjaya restaurant, JS Maju. Zul Rossi, who has connections at the restaurant was seen guiding Atoy "Pinky" to the VIP lounge for drinks with his business partners. That act alone flared up the speculation that a deal has been struck there and then. When asked, the two strongly denied any accusations of tapping up, saying that the meeting was just a regular hang-out session.

Meanwhile, Azim and Atoy's search for a new place appears on the bright side as they are nearing a deal for a bigger mansion where they hope to host their famous parties with a lot more people. This deal is said to be a bargain considering the place which oversees their own swimming pool and a tennis court in the backyard. Club ambassador to Seremban, Fatahuddin is said to be interested in the mansion when he is looking for a rest house.

Acap "Brown" Proving His Worth

Acap "Brown" has been a startling revelation in F&F side this term.Under the tutelage of Ferdinadeem, Acap is rapidly growing on the 'physical' side of his game as well as his reading of the gameplay.

The junior defender has yet to stamp his mark as one of MMU's top defender but there are signs that he might in a few more seasons. Acap, an ex-Sepangnyol defender who also played under up and rising manager, Bob "The Builder" strikes similar resemblance to Man Utd's defender, Wes Brown hence the nickname. When talking to the clubs' journalist for an exclusive interview, Acap was modest in his comments.

"It is a great honor to be playing alongside Ferdinadeem who is regarded as one of the top defenders in MMU and also all the F&F players. I am still in the learning curve but I am sure that some of the experiences of those players such as Zul K " Takot Lipas" and Mid Totti will help me develop my game."

On the incident on the last match against CyberHeat where he was viciously scolded by skipper, Zul Rossi, he said "I respected and understood why he was so angry with me that day. Playing for a team like this requires you to be alert all the time. I turned off for a while because I thought that the keeper is supposed to come out for that ball. I know now that in order to be a better player, I need to sometimes take matters into my own hands."

Acap who is at his comfort zone when he is with his long-time WAG is also optimistic about F&F chances of being at the top of the table.

When talking to skipper, Zul Rossi and defense leader, Ferdinadeem, both players have some constructive criticism for Acap " Brown"

Zul Rossi was quoted saying "I believe that Acap has the potential to be better than he is now. He just needs a little bit more guidance and I'm sure he'll make it as one of the most feared defenders around."

Meanwhile, Ferdinadeem said " Acap has the bravery and agressiveness needed to be a powerful stopper but he still needs to improve on his game reading skills and composure with the ball. If he can master these qualities and train hard, he'll make it."

Acap's game still has a long way to go before he really gets it going but it is exciting to see if he can fulfill the potential he has.

Match Report : Flames Fire CyberHeat Down

The match regarded as the Top of Table Clash surely did not disappoint the spectators as it was filled with dramas, tackles and controversial decisions by referee who did not even run but only stood and blew his whistle from the center circle.

F&F had to make last minute changes to the line-up as Nadom Onuoha and Zul "Takot Lipas" arrived just in the nick of time as both teams were walking into the field. The management would like to thank Syah "Boboy" and Boynaldo for being their professionalism as they had to make way for the late comers in the last minute.

The referee immediately showed his lack of competency by not spotting a foul on Ferdinadeem just few minutes after the kick off even though his linesman was able to see it. He seems too lazy to flag the foul, probably because of the fat in his arms is preventing him to do so. F&F however, manage to control the match throughout the first half with Mid Totti and Sohaib Karembeu combining non-chalantly in the middle with Nadom Onuoha 's covering them. Nadoms' game play was similar to Edgar Davids's aggressiveness, non-stop running, and hard-crunching tackles which make things difficult for CyberHeat's star, Jerry O.

Sohaib and Mid could have scored one each when they managed to dribble past the defence and the goalie but their shots were wide off the post. F&F again had a chance to open their account when Zul "Takot Lipas"'s cross found Nadom Onuoha unmarked at the far post but his diving header was saved by the goalie. CyberHeat did not get much opportunity to score until they were awarded an indirect free kick inside the penalty box because Acap "Brown" was judged to have pushed a CyberHeat's striker. Azim "Pelekat" was happy to see the effort went wide as the ball was deflected through the wall.

In the second half, the referee himself changed the tempo because of his dubious decisions. Both teams were not happy with most of his decisions. He failed to send off CyberHeat's captain when he was clearly putting out vulgar words towards the F&F players and only escaped with a yellow card. Kudos for the ref. The match was becoming more and more tensed but the combination of Sohaib and Mid was flawless as they managed to control the midfield well.

F&F finally scored through Iskandar Macheda when a corner kick by Mid Totti found him at the far post to head the ball unchallenged. From then on, CyberHeat kept on attacking but most of their attacks were spoiled by off side traps marshalled by Ferdinadeem. Acap Brown did well with his task of marking CyberHeat's target man and Azim "Pelekat" managed to clear the ball when CyberHeat's striker was one on one situation against him. Most of CyberHeat attacks came through their right wing who was fast and managed to put his crosses inside the box. Zul "Takot Lipas" needed Mid Totti's and Zul Rossi's help just to keep the winger at bay.

The score line lasted till the full time whistle was blown and F&F lead the Division 1 with 3 points gap with 100% win record after 2 games. Everyone played their part in this match and a special thank you to Det "The Dawg", Alip "Possebon" and Shah "Boboy" as they stuck by the team eventhough they were not in the team selection. Plenty more chances will come their way soon. F&F's next match is against Mantizs on the 27th of July.

Time is burnt for Andy "Bedak"

The transfer wrangle of Andy "Bedak" ended here today as his legal team announced that he will not be plying his trade with F&F.

His protracted transfer saga started with a few complicated legal matters that involves the agreement of supplying the "Bedak" for Andy. Both parties just could not come to a consensus regarding how much 'bedak' Andy should get in compensation for his services.

F&F legal team said in a news conference today that the transfer had collapsed not only because of the 'bedak' issue, but also because of something else.

"We regretfully announce today that both parties did not achieve an agreement. Apart from that, we also could not get Andy's documents sorted out from his current employers as there are so many irregularities involved. So Andy will not be playing for F&F this season."

This shocking news came after a lot of wranglings to get Andy from his club. Skipper, Zul Rossi said yesterday, " Andy could have been great for us. But these things happens in football so you cannot complain too much. I wish him the best."

Manager, Bob " The Builder" was optimistic despite the loss of one of the best talent in MMU football. Bob was quoted saying "Its no doubt that we can use him in various positions on the field but I am very happy with the current set of players I have at my disposal now."

Match Preview: F&F Burning For Revenge

Fire&Flames VS CyberHeat
MMU Field
KickOff 1730

Today's match is labeled as the Top of The Table clash between CyberHeat and F&F. Both teams have won their opening matches and will be going to this fixture with high confidence. Last season, F&F won the group match 1-0 but lost 1-3 in the 3rd/4th placing later in the season. Ferdinadeem and Zul Rossi did not play in that match because of suspension and injury.

F&F gaffer and league commissioner, Bob said in a press conference today "I would be really glad if we could conjure up a win today and I believe with the players and quality we have within the squad, coupled with their will to win, we can go on and get what we deserve."

The big man has been staying out of controversy by giving out politically correct interviews to reporters and has been modest in his comments.

Also, manager Bob "The Builder" and skipper Zul Rossi seems likely to stick with the 4-3-3 formation and the same starting line-up depending on the arrival of the players. Andy "Bedak" has been AWOL until now so his place is not guaranteed. The gaffer will impose a fine and suspend him until he shows up with a valid reason. Atoi "Pinky" is now fully fit and will be slotted into the first eleven. Acap "Brown" pulled out of training early yesterday, an indication that he may be struggling with a calf injury and his place at the centre of defence depends on his fitness. There is no other major concern over the fitness of the players.

(pic: Acap seen here posing for the camera on one of his cocktail parties.)

If either team win this match it will surely see them as the title contender but if it ended in a draw, the Division 1 title will be open for other teams such as Mantizs and Salsa FC.

Match Report : Flames Burn Through Spirulina

It was windy and cloudy evening which was a good omen for a football match but the match started late because the arrival of the referee and his two match officials was delayed by 'Teh'O Ais' pit stop :P .

Zul "Takot Lipas" managed to arrive in the nick of time as both teams were lining up at the center circle. The only surprise inclusion in the starting line up was Atoi "Pinky" who managed to pass the fitness test in the morning.

Spirulina seems to have signed two players from CyberHeat but F&F started well with Mid bursting past Spirulina's midfields to unleash a flaming through ball for skipper Zul Rossi but Spirulina's defender did well to intercept the pass. From then on, the ball was mostly played in the opponent's half where F&F managed to control the match with their attacking play.

Shots from Zul Rossi, Iskandar Macheda, Zul "Takot Lipas" and Atoi "Pinky" was blocked by the defenders and goalie. Everyone thought Iskandar Macheda have scored the first goal when he managed to lob the goalie who was at no man's land but instead, it struck the goalpost. Mid Totti scored his first goal from a free kick just inside the center circle thanks to a freaky blunder from the goalie who did not get a clean catch. Spirulina's attacks mostly came from counter attacking play. Their new signing from CyberHeat playing at the left wing managed to intercept the pass from Farouk "AutoPilot" for Ferdinadeem which left the veteran defender stranded from the winger's quickness but he did not take his chance when his shot was nowhere near the goal post. Mid Totti disrupted the defence with his blazing long balls for the 3-man attack up front.

The first half ended with 1-0, with F&F looking to add more goals for the second half. The gaffer changed the formation to 4-4-2 without any substitution. Zul "Takot Lipas" was changed to the left flank, Nadom Onouha left back, Zul Rossi playing right wing and Atoi "Pinky" joined Iskandar "Macheda" upfront. The changed formation did not favour F&F as they seems unable to control the match especially in the midfield area which they did not have Nadom Onouha to protect them. Bob "The Builder" decided to undo the formation back to 4-3-3 but this time Zul Rossi was the holding midfielder behind Mid Totti and Sohaib Karembeu.

With the score line has not change, the gaffer made few substitutions by bringing on Syah "Boboy" (left back), Det-co (right back), Ibrahim "November" (left wing), Acoy "Altec" (striker), Boynaldo (right wing) and Alip Possebon(free role?). Azim "Pelekat" made his first and last save when Spirulina was awarded a free kick just outside the D box. Late into the second half, Mid Totti again got on the score sheet this time with a beauty in swinger shot straight from the corner kick!

Even though F&F managed to win this game, skipper Zul Rossi is still not satisfied with the performance especially the second half which he described as "rusty" and the team should have scored more than 2 goals.

Match Preview: Let the Flames Begin

Fire&Flames VS Spirulina
MMU Field
KickOff 1730

This will be Bob "The Builder"'s and Zul Rossi's first official match in charge as manager and captain. The gaffer views this match as a must win match to get a morale boost from the team for them to be in high spirit when facing CyberHeat next week.

Bob "The Builder", will be hoping to be able to play his first eleven but the big man will have to wait till the last minute to know whether Nadom Onuoha and Zul "Takot Lipas" will arrive on time from international duty. Skipper Zul Rossi will set to use 4-3-3 formation but with Atoy "Pinky" still struggling from thigh injury, Andy "Bedak" and Boynaldo will fight for their place on the right flank.

The last time both teams played each other was during MMU Champions League quarter finals match last season won by F&F 2-0 with first half goals from former F&F's players, Abby Giggs and Hamka "Beng-Ho". With all the players ready and raring to go for the match tomorrow, Sohaib 'Karembeu' will partner Mid Totti and will be hoping that he can produce the type of performance he did against Spirulina last season.

Ferdinadeem, Acap Brown and Farouk "AutoPilot" should start in defence but we will see where Zul Rossi wants to play Zul "Takot Lipas" at. He could feature in the left back or wing if the skipper himself decided to play on the right wing, then the left back position will be open to Det-co, Alip Possebon and Syah "Boboy". The trio midfield will be anchored by Nadom Onuoha to let Sohaib Karembeu and Mid Totti blaze their passes and skills for Iskandar "Macheda" upfront and the wingers.

Mid Totti: It's Good to be Back!!!

Zul Rossi's proposal to former MMU MVP, Mid Totti to come out of retirement after 3 years out of action to play for F&F has made Mid Totti joyous after playing 2 friendly matches. Mid Totti have adapted well with the F&F's game play and blended well with Nadom Onuoha and Sohaib Karembeu in midfield.

There's no doubt about the partnership between him and Nadom Onuoha as they played together during their Sayur United's days. One of the reason Mid Totti agreed to come out of retirement because of the familiar names in F&F's squad. He has been plying his trade around Zul Rossi, Ferdinadeem, Zul "Takot Lipas", and Azim "Pelekat" during his glorious seasons with Kayu FC and not to forget Sayur United under the leadership of Acoy "Altec" and partnership with Nadom Onuoha.

Mid Totti's official debut will be next Tuesday against Spirulina, the team F&F defeated at the quarter finals stage in last season's MMU Champions League.

F&F: Season Preview

F&F started their pre-season by winning both friendly matches against Seryes FC and last season's MMU Champions League champion, Dettol FC.

There is improvement from the forward department as F&F managed 2 goals each in both matches although there is inconsistency from the defence. Ferdinadeem and Farok "AutoPilot" is showing signs of fatigue during the match against Dettol FC. Ferdinadeem has also voiced out to Zul Rossi that the defence needs more time to gel especially in communicating for the offside trap.

Skipper Samir Aie have dropped a bombshell to the team when he unexpectedly announced that he is quitting the club to be transferred to IBM FC in Damansara Utama. Apparently IBM FC has offered him more money plus health insurance and during a meeting with the team he said, "I'm sad to leave everyone but I need to move on as I need to think about my future and Eid dul Fitr is just around the corner. I wish all of you the best."

Manager Bob "The Builder" has announced Zul Rossi as the new skipper and Ferdinadeem as the vice-captain.

F&F is now tied with Victory FC as the number 1 ranked team in MMU according to the official MMU FC website:-

Both Bob "The Builder" and Zul Rossi have targeted to win the MMU Division 1 and promotion to the MMU Premier League. Bob "The Builder" have identified CyberHeat and Phlamze as the main rivals for the top spot. Below is the MMU Division 1 league table:-

Pre-Season: F&F vs Seryes FC

Today will be F&F's first pre-season match playing against Seryes FC.

Manager Bob "The Builder" and Tactical Chief Coach/Player Zul Rossi looking for chemistry among the players and winning the match is just a bonus to them. Zul Rossi has hinted that he might be using a 4-4-2 formation instead of the traditional F&F 4-5-1 formation because he believes that F&F has two natural strikers up front.

Bob "The Builder" has announced that Atoy "Pinky" is ruled out for today because of a thigh injury and club doctors has yet to confirm how long he will be out. Farok "AutoPilot" has not arrived from auto piloting session at his hometown and will miss his debut chance for F&F. This means that Acoy "Altec" is poised to start with Eskandar Macheda. Legendary playmaker, Mid Totti is also missing from the team list as he still have a few days of contract with his current employer and they refused to let him go. Sohaib Karembeu and Andy "Bedak" who will be featuring in F&F midfield for the season is also missing with Sohaib still waiting for his work visa and Andy who is still on home quarantine after his 'Bedak' supply diminished a few days ago and has yet to receive the new shipment. It is believed that Andy will be out and about once the shipment arrive.

Det-co will be aiming to impress the team after losing 2 kilograms in just 2 days of training. He also aims to sell his latest weight reducing technique if everything goes well. Det-co's counterpart, Nadom Onuoha will also feature in the team despite the late night rendezvous he had the night before.

Achap Brown, the youngest player in the team is looking forward to feature alongside veteran defender Ferdinadeem after his free transfer from Sepang-nyol. "I want to show the gaffer my quality and with that hopefully I can cement an automatic place beside Ferdinadeem." Achap Brown said during an interview after their second training session yesterday.

F&F Set to Blaze with New Management

The news that F&F is not competing in the MMU league was put to the gong yesterday following a take over from a former Hungary international goalie, Gabor Kiraly who is now a hotel owner bearing the name Crocodive in Phuket. F&F's senior players, Azim "Pelekat", Nadom Onuoha, Ferdinadeem, Det-Co lead by Zul Rossi traveled to Phuket to convince Gabor Kiraly in taking over F&F.

They spent 4 days negotiating the terms and their targets for future tournaments after a disappointing campaign last term which saw them finished fourth. Gabor Kiraly was impressed with the team's achievement considering the team was founded 2 seasons ago. Gabor Kiraly is now the chairman for F&F and has appointed Bob "The Builder" as the new manager and Zul Rossi as the tactical chief coach.
F&F meanwhile, has snapped 3 important players from Wizurai who are Atoi "Pinky", Eskandar Macheda and Farok "AutoPilot". Other additions to the team are Achap Brown from Sepang-yol, former Tak Kesah FC player Acoy "Altec" and veteran player who played for Kayu FC, Mid Totti. With these new recruitments, Atoi "Pinky" and Eskandar Macheda will lead the front line where as Mid Totti will be the playmaker and Acoy "Altec" will be supersub. Achap Brown and Farok "AutoPilot" will fill the gap left by Nabeelja Vidic and Fahrul. Promising youngster, Achap Brown who has shown the sign of quality will benefit from his partnership with veteran Ferdinadeem. This partnership is hoped to bear the same fruit as when Nadeem tutored established central defender, Nabeelja Vidic.

The new manager, Bob "The Builder" is expected to live up to his nickname, building a team from scratch and bringing it to a new level. A press conference is expected anytime soon for Bob to express his views on the team.

Match Report : Payback Time From CyberHeat

It was the last game for F&F, but we did not play the way we did against Black Emperor in the semi finals. Ferdinadeem is suspended after being senf off in the previous match for a last man tackle and Zul Rossi is out with hamstring but managed to be the emergency linesman. CyberHeat took the lead in the 2nd half but skipper Samir Aie managed to get an equaliser from his free kick just outside the box. With the introduction of Mido and Nadom Onuaha, F&F looked lively, however two mistakes from the defence allowed CyberHeat to killed the match for F&F and they won 3-1.

Match Report : Unlucky F&F Lose to Penalty Shoot-Out

For the first time this season, F&F has showed their true quality in controlling the possessions and game play which the Black Emperor can do nothing but defending and counter attacking.

Early in the 1st half, Ferdinadeem wasted a good opportunity when Hamka's corner kick into Black Emperor's penalty box got loose and Ferdinadeem was quick to pounce on it only to see his shot goes wide off the goal. F&F was given a free kick and Samir Aie's free kick was saved by Che Weh "Superman".

In the 2nd half, F&F changed the match to a faster tempo to pressure Black Emperor which resulted their defenders committed fouls just outside the penalty area. Samir Aie again stepped up to take the free kick which Che Weh "Superman" only managed to parry and hit the bar but Sharil "Ayil" managed to head it off the line.

There was a controversial decision by the referee when Eski Raul beat the offside trap and was brought down by Che Weh "Superman" with high tackle but the referee didn't even book him for the offence as it was a last man tackle. Even Black Emperor's players was waiting for the red card but only a free kick was given and this time Samir Aie decided to blast the ball which it deflected against the wall and looping into the far post where it seems likely to enter the goal but came on the flying Che Weh "Superman" ala Shaolin Soccer save to deny F&F.

Black Emperor's strike force nearly got past the defence when a killer pass from the midfield for unmarked Fauzan "Makan Tanah" caught Ferdinadeem at no mans land but he managed to make a clean sliding tackle. Ten minutes before the full time, a clearance from the Black Emperor's defence caught Ferdinadeem again when his mistimed header led to Fauzan "Makan Tanah" one on one with the goalie but Ferdinadeem made a tackle from behind just outside the box and was given his marching order.

With Ferdinadeem sent off, Black Emperor began to play long balls towards the defence but the match finished goalless at full time.

Penalty Takers:

Black Emperor won 4-3.

Match Preview: Emperor To Conquer F&F?

Fire&Flames VS Black Emperor
MMU Field
KickOff 1800

F&F will play their second match today in 4 days for the semi final stage against Black Emperor. This match has been tipped to be an interesting one because both teams are thought to be at the same level of quality wise.

This will be F&F's two consecutive semi finals in two seasons and their first meeting against the Black Emperor in a competitive tournament. Black Emperor has been winning through penalty shoot outs on the road to the semi final. They defeated Phlamze and Sepang-yol with both winning penalties converted by their top goal scorer, Fauzan "Makan Tanah" who played for F&F last season. This season he has been played as support striker and has scored 3 goals so far.

Another star player, Syah "Senoi" was a Kayu FC & Dettol FC player is an experienced player who is dangerous in taking set pieces and crosses from the right flank. For both of them, today will be playing against familiar faces as they had played together as a team through out the previous years.

Nabeelja Vidic is back in the squad whereas Andy "Bedak" is set to miss this match after being called up to the Indian national team in Sarawak. There are no casualty from the previous match against Spirulina, and Samir Aie set to field the fab 5 midfields whom had terrories Spirulina's defends.

Match Report : First Half Raid

It was Monday blues for everyone including the referee and his linesmen. Amer Tevez had to be the linesman for the 1st half in his formal attire. It was rumored that he wore the same attire during MMU Awards Night and even stayed in the hall till yesterday.

After the announcement of starting line up by skipper Samir Aie, F&F players offered Al-Fatihah to Nabeelja's late grandfather who past away in the afternoon. We extend our utmost condolences to his family.

Andy "Bedak" finally made his debut and took Nabeelja's position along side Ferdinadeem with Eski Raul on the left back and Samir Aie on the right flank.

Player/Manager Samir Aie told his boys that he wants to win the match in the 1st half and the team responded well by demonstrating silky passes and movements. F&F again scored an early goal after Samir Aie combined his fast running and skill to dribble past Spirulina's left back and crossed the ball to the far post which found unmarked Abby, who had time to stop the ball with his left foot and tapped the ball home with his right foot.

Zul K "Takut Lipas", Hamka "Beng-ho" and Sohaib Karembeu combined well and controlled the match at the middle of the park with their neat touches and killer passes to the wingers. F&F nearly doubled their lead when Samir Aie's free kick found Ferdinadeem sneaking at the far post but his header unfortunately hit the post instead.

Zul K "Takut Lipas"'s vision and Hamka "Beng-ho"'s off the ball run resulted a second goal for F&F. As the Spirulina's defenders were busy marking Abby and Zul Rossi, Zul K pounded upon the opportunity to slide a pass through to marauding Hamka "Beng-ho". Hamka did justice to the splendid pass by cheekily chipping the ball over the helpless goalkeeper.

Ferdinadeem again missed the chance to score his first goal of the season when F&F was given their 1st corner kick of the game. Ferdinadeem fooled his marker for the second time by sneaking at the far post and volleyed the perfect cross by Hamka into the sky.

F&F was totally a different team in the 2nd half. Spirulina introduced their playmakers Syahir "Pisang" and Nenek. Syahir "Pisang" particularly has changed the flow for Spirulina by holding the ball and unleashing decent passes which disrupted F&F's defence. Samir Aie swiftly tinkered the tactics by changing Zul Rossi to defensive midfield and Zul K to striker.

It seems all of the F&F's attackers too tired to defend but Ferdinadeem and co had no problem keeping the Spirulina's strikers quiet. As usual F&F's penalty appeal was turned down by the referee when Eski Raul changed to the left flank and tried to dribble past the defender and the ball struck his hand. Minutes later, F&F had two chances to score, first with Samir Aie's free kick which found Nadom Onouha who chested the ball for subtitute, Boynaldo to volley straight to the goalie. The second was from Sohaib Karembeu who fired his thunderous shot but it was slightly over the bar.

The game as a whole was played on different tempos between both halves. In particular, F&F played a quick tempo game in the first half which was rewarded with 2 goals by Abby and Hamka. In the second half, F&F tried to control their passing game and slowed the tempo down to conserve their energy for the next match.

F&F will play against Black Emperor in the semi final on the 30th of April(Thursday).

Match Preview: Flames to test Spirulina

Fire&Flames VS Spirulina FC
MMU Field Kickoff:1745

After a dodgy team effort in their last match against Lanun Rombak FC, F&F will be looking to improve on their gameplay today against Spirulina FC at the MMU Field. F&F were too complacent in midfield and their whole system of play was marred by poor first touch and inability to stay calm under pressure like they usually do. But manager Samir Aie who has stayed out of the spotlight in recent weeks aims to put an end to that.

Aie was quoted saying " We have been working on it all week. I have prepared the players well for this match and they will be raring to go to show what they can do."

Flames will welcome back utility man, Eski Raul after a week of absence on sabbatical leave. Eski was blessed last week with his new born, Eusoff Eskandarian.

"He just a joy to watch. Sometimes I couldn't take my eyes off him even just for a while." Eski said when asked about his crown jewel last week.

Meanwhile, F&F is caught up in another transfer saga as "Bedak", who is supposed to be their latest acquisition during the winter transfer window, was held up by the FA. He was reported to have missed his flight last week but that wasn't the case at all. The issue digs further as "Bedak" failed to get his work permit done in time for F&F last match due to the FA's questioning of who actually owned his rights. "Bedak" was previously playing for an Indian club but there were irregularities in his documentation that forced the FA to investigate the matter further. Manager, Samir Aie will be hoping that the saga be sorted out immediately.

F&F has no other injury concern as they head on for this crunch quarter final match against Spirulina. Samir Aie and Abby will have to be assessed just before the game to make sure they are fit. Boynaldo is still feeling the niggling knee injury he picked up years ago but should be fit for todays' match. FerdiNadeem who had a week rest on the doctors' order will also be fit for the match and are set to boost the defence with his commanding presence.

With all the players ready and raring to go for the match today, the gaffer, Samir Aie will have a headache on the team selection. FerdiNadeem and Nabeelja Vidic should keep their places while Eski Raul will be back swinging on the flanks. Sohaib 'Karembeu' will sit in front of the defence once more and will be hoping that he can produce the type of performance he did against Lanun Rombak FC. Zul Rossi should keep his place safe after an unimpressive showing in the last match. The rest of the position remains in question as Samir Aie tinkers with his teams' ability to adapt.

Match Report: F&F Through to Quarter Finals...

The weather was windy and sunny, but the pitch was not completely dry and F&F went into this match with only 2 subs available at the bench and without playmaker and skipper Samir Aie.

Aie was diagnosed with a minor hamstring strain and fever but managed to give instructions to the team from the bench and Abby out with a thigh injury. Eski Raul, still on his sabbatical leave and new signing, "Bedak"'s flight was delayed from India causing him to miss his debut.

Man of the match, Sohaib Karembeu impressed everyone again with his stunning strike with his left foot 10 minutes into the match. That was his first ever goal for the club. The match then seems to be F&F's domination but Lanun Rombak FC does not give up, instead they created problems into F&F's defence by rocketing long balls towards F&F's goal area.

Azim "Pelekat", was a surprised inclusion into the team after he recovered from hairline fracture to his foot. Azim was busy sweeping the Pirates long ball away from his goal area throughout the match. F&F didn't not play their normal game as the midfielders failed to control the match but the whole team was rushing to get the second goal. F&F's injury list increased as Ferdinadeem suffered a back strain after taking a free kick and was substituted minutes before the half time whistle was blown.

Zul K "Takut Lipas" came in for Ferdinadeem to partner with Nabeelja Vidic for the first time this season. Late in the 1st half, F&F nearly doubled their lead when Nadom Onuoha's free kick was parried by the goalie. Det-co was introduced in the 2nd half to take Reza's place. The Pirates changed their tactics by attacking on the left side through Imaninho, and which frustrated Det-co, whose lacking match fitness n pratices was booked after making two succession fouls.

Stand-in captain Boynaldo and Nadom Ouoha started on the flanks have failed to provide decent crosses for the Zul Rossi. However, late in the second half a counter attack from F&F nearly killed the game for the Pirates but Zul K "Takut Lipas"'s shot was was saved by the goalie.

F&F needs to improve their game play against Spirulina in the quarter finals. F&F's ex players, Fatah van der Vaart and Fauzan "Makan Tanah" was among the spectators and expressed their view from the match by saying F&F lacks flames from last season.

Azim "Pelekat" clarifys his nickname

In a recent interview with talkshow host, Jay Leno yesterday, Azim made a startling statement to clarify why he is being touted as Azim "Pelekat".

Fans are confused on why Azim was called Pelekat as one rumor say that it is because he can catch the ball to his hands like glue. That wasn't the case as he actually got he nickname after a game inwhich he let in a goal right through his legs. That goal proves to be a friendly joke among the squad saying that he should wear a 'kain pelikat' ( a traditional Malay clothing worn like a long skirt) so that he wouldn't let in such goals. The rumor certainly got twisted after it was spread out from mouth to mouth and Azim took his chance to clarify the situation when talking to Jay Leno.

"I enjoy the confusion that the nickname brings me as I can joke about it with my teammates and when the fans ask me why I was called "Pelekat", I can say that the ball sticks like glue to me" Azim said when asked about his proverbial name calling by funnyman Leno.

Azim is currently on a race with fitness and could play in todays' match against Lanun Rombak FC. The question on everyones mind is could he recapture the form he was in before he got the hairline fracture to his foot.

When talking on a more serious note with Leno, Azim said "I am currently working very hard to get ready for the game. As a passionate member of the team, of course I would want to contribute to the team as a whole. The injury has set me back a little but I'm sure everything will follow through."

Match Preview: Pirates Prepare for Hell

Fire&Flames VS Lanun Rombak FC
MMU Field Kickoff:1745

After seeing Dettol FC and CyberHeat progress to quarter final stage, pressure will be on F&F as Group D leader to win this match. Pity for Phlamze who lost in a penalty shootout to BlackEmperor after managing to stage a comeback from 2-0 down to drag the match into penalties.

Bad news for F&F as the injury list worsens, with skipper Samir Aie a major doubt over his hamstring strain and latest casualty, Abby, injured his thigh during Futsal TM Selangor training but he will undergo a last minute fitness test. Eski "Raul", still in joyous mood after his first child was born last Friday, will most probably play a part in the match as F&F are short of players. Zul K is back in the line up after being suspended for picking up 2 bookings and a new target man known as Bedak is set to be unleashed by the skipper.

Goalie Saiber "Reina" has rejected the contract offer from F&F because of his demand for a permanent transfer at the end of the season has been denied by F&F official. This means, unhappy Nadom "Onuoha" will have to put in the gloves back to guard the goalpost for F&F today. That also could change as Azim "Pelikat" nears fitness after a lengthy spell in the sidelines. Samir Aie is expected to change the line up because due to injuries, with Zul "Rossi" switching to left flank and Zul K "Takot Lipas", Sohaib "Karembeu" and Hamka "Beng-ho" will be at the heart of the midfield.

It's a Boy!: Eusoff bin Mohd Eskandarian

F&F would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Eski "Raul" and wife, Ewa because a piece of heaven fell on you two on the 17th of April 2009.

Saiber "Reina" To Replace Azim "Pelekat"?

Just two days before F&F's second round match against Lanun Rombak FC, skipper Samir Aie has decided to loan Saiber "Reina", the experienced goalie with an outstanding resume to replace long term injury Azim "Pelekat".

Saiber, a former goalie for Kayu FC currently belong to 2008 MMU Champions League Finalist, SDX FC which did not participate in the competition because of financial and sponsors problems. Most of the players have been loaned out including Ferdinadeem and Zul K. The rest of SDX FC players are now playing for Lanun Rombak FC for this season. Saiber held the number 1 jersey for MMUFC for nearly 4 years.

However, Saiber is yet to put his John Hancock on the paper and negotiation still at early stage. Nadum Onuoha had a discussion with Samir Aie after the match against CyberHeat where he suggested F&F should sign a goalie because he does not enjoy playing at that position and wants to play in the outfield position.

Ferdinadeem: No Go For F&F's Managerial Post

In the recent rumors about who will be the next gaffer for F&F, Ferdinadeem has responded by saying "I want to focus and improve my game on the field rather than being a player/manager again. I have won every tournament there is in MMU and now I want to win the Best Defender Award." Last season's MMU Cup, Ferdinadeem nearly won the Golden Boot Award with Boy P but his goal in the final was wrongly flagged for offside by the linesman.

Ferdinadeem was invited to Old Trafford by S.A Ferguson after
retiring as Kayu FC manager.

When asked to comment about Bob Sepang-yol he said "He is a good manager, communicates well with young players and excellent with transfer negotiations. But he has not win anything yet, I am sure the lads want someone with proven track record to manage them." It will be a tough mission for Flames Football Federation’s (FFF) to find replacement as most of the managers in MMU are still rookie and not par with Ferdinadeem's track record.

Who Will Be The Next Coach Of F&F?

The hunt for the man who will take over Samir Aie's shoe as the gaffer of F&F continues...

Negotiating your way through the minefield that is the Flames Football Federation’s (FFF) selection for the next team coach is like dealing with the nightmare Bandung traffic – just when you think you are getting somewhere, you turn a corner and it all starts again.

As everyone knows, Samir Aie will retire, as this season will be his last one and the whole team are really pushing for the title as a token of appreciation for his leadership and capability on and off the field. Currently F&F are top of their qualification group and already qualify for the knock out stages.

The identity of the next coach seems to grow less clear by the hour.

MMUFootball.com takes a quick look at the main candidates but would also like to point out that the FFF, seemingly caught in two minds or more, is more than capable of appointing a coach that few had thought of.

The Candidates

BOB Sepanyol

For: He is Portuguese and he has worked for Sepanyol, then perhaps it could work for F&F. He has experience in MMU Football League and is currently in charge of Sepanyol. Since arriving at the club, he has managed to introduce a sense of calm and stability into what was a chaotic situation. He has also been doing relatively well so far in the Champions League.

Nadeem Shah

For: Experience. Not only was he the coach for Kayu Fc back at the 2004-2007 MMU League, he has seen everything there is to see in MMU football and even led the Kayu Fc for a while.

Against: He’s old and at 25, does he have the energy to go jetting around the giant continent with games in the space of ten days?
